Do i have the right for my own hair length?

I am 14 year old female, and i am going to the hairdressers this afternoon. My parents would like my hair cut..they want it short however i dont want it cut short. Who has the right to decide on how to have my hair? I want it longer, it is just below my shoulders, and i look awful and ugly with my hair short. how can i get it to be how i want? they say they know whats best when they dont, and they say i dont have a say in the matter. please help!

Tell them you want it left where it is right now. It's YOUR hair, not theirs. Period.

Tell them that you don't want your hair short, maybe you can reason with them.

If this is the biggest problem you have to deal with today then you are a lucky girl.

I dont think any hairdresser would cut your hair short if you sat there and said "no"

Ask your hairdresser to have a word with your parents. Tell him/her that you dont want it short and they can then suggest some styles. Hopefully you will find something both you and your parents like.

i know how u feel. when my stepmother came along and my hair went from being all the way down my back to a mushroom cut. i was 8 and i hated it it made me feel like a boy. but i couldnt do n e thing about it. Im sorry ur parents are being unreasonalable. Im sure you will still look cute with short hair tho.

You do have a say in the matter. You are fourteen years old. Some places in the world you can have sex at that age. Go for a walk, go to a relatives, miss the appointment and tell your parents exactly why. This is unfair treatment for a girl of your age and though you are supposed to respect your elders this is ridiculous. Talk to a freephone child advice line, I'd say. They know more than me is all.

explain to them its ur hair and ur getting old enough where u feel u shld have a say in some of the decisions u make . if anythign coimpromise nd say ull get an inch or two cut off [it grows back faster wen u cut the ends anyway] just try to explain how they wuld feel if u todl them wat they had to do with their hair . nd ogo dluck =]

aaaww why do they want u to cut ur hair? i would understand the other way round. i would be very upset if my daughters cut their long hair. i just love them the way they are. talk to ur parents, find out why they want u to cut ur hair? has it got anything to do with looking too attractive at ur young age? anyway find out their reasons so that u can form a reasonable reply to them.

its your hair.not theirs

Well, you're only 14. Until you're 18, THEY have the say in the matter and you just have to deal with it. I think a lot of parents would let their 14 year old decide how they want their hair cut though...

it's by no means cheaper than your current

style tell them that! try to explain

how much you love longer hair and that you'll be

responsible and take good care of your hair

Well Hon, it is beyond me why your parents would be so set on you cutting your hair.

I would start by asking them why it is so important to them that you cut your hair. They may have good reasons. And if you do this, don't argue, just acknowledge that you appreciate their observations and that they have what they believe to be your best interests at heart.

Then tell them that you feel ugly with short hair and that it means a lot to you if they would allow you to continue growing it. Tell them that you feel insecure and ugly with short hair. I would think that this honest and heartfelt approach would work because you are explaining how important the issue is.

It's important that you don't get angry or emotional while you talk to your parents about this. If you try to fight them then you will lose. Remain calm and mature about it and whatever is decided, give them a hug and thank them for listening to you.

its Ur hair and if u want it long them tell them and if they still want it short the hairdresser will ask u and not Ur parents

It's YOUR body, you do what YOU want with it. :]
